Columbian Gold
Lineage: Columbian Gold Landrace
Note: Percentages are based on averages and may vary.
Columbian Gold is a landrace sativa that originated on the highest mountains in the country in Santa Marta, Colombia. This strain was distributed in the US in the 60’s - 70’s along with Columbian Red, sometimes we would get the more powerful Oaxaca Gold and Acapulco Gold. They were about the only choices available until the later 70’s when Hash, Thai sticks, and Skunk weed from Humboldt and Kona Gold from Hawaii (sold in small pineapple cans) were passed around. The cost was for Columbian Gold was about $40 a “lid”, and a lid was the size of four fingers, or about an ounce and some generous people would measure five fingers. You could buy it “by the finger” - usually for $10. Smaller home scales were harder to come by for the average Joe so most people used their hands, you would hope to know the guy with big hands/fingers.
