Jack Herer, the “Emperor of Hemp” ran for president twice, once in 1988 and again in 1992 as the Grassroots Party Candidate. Individual candidates' positions on Grassroots Party issues varied from Libertarian to Green but all had the common goal to end prohibition and re-legalize cannabis. He wrote 2 books, Grass and The Emperor Wears No Clothes and it has been used in efforts to decriminalize and legalize cannabis and expand the hemp industry for industrial use.
